5. Connect the hub to your network
Connect the hub to an AC power source. With the hub mounted, you are now
ready to connect the hub to your network. Typical hub connections are:
■ hub-to-device connections. Connecting to network devices such as
computers, and printers.
■ hub-to-hub and hub-to-switch connections. Connecting to another
Ethernet hub.
■ hub-to-network backbones. Connecting to a network backbone.
This section describes the different ways you can connect your hub to your
network.
To connect a device to the hub, using unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable,
push the RJ-45 plug at one end of the cable into the RJ-45 jack on the hub until
the tab on the plug clicks into place.
