number is 11. The filename also indicates that dummy data has been written to that volume three
times. A binary file contains the first 512 bytes of data of a shredded volume (LDEV).
The text file contains the following summary information for a shredding operation:
Results of a shredding operation
Contents of the dummy data
Shredded volumes
Start and finish time of a shredding operation
The file name of a text file is displayed as follows:
shread_the-finish-time-of-shredding-operation.txt
The compressed file is saved with the time zone setting of the SVP. If the compressed file is
decompressed on the Remote Web Console computer, the time stamp of the decompressed file is
displayed with the time zone setting of the Remote Web Console computer. Therefore, the time
stamp of the decompressed file might be different from the actual finish time of a shredding
operation.
Figure 23 Shredding Completed Confirmation Dialog Box
This dialog box shows the ending status of a shredding operation (see Table 18 (page 64)). When
this dialog box opens, check the contents to verify whether all the overwriting operations have
ended normally. The dialog box shows Normal when an overwriting operation ends normally.
If any overwriting operation ends abnormally, the shredding operation fails. If the shredding
operation fails, retry the shredding operation. If the shredding operation still fails despite retrying,
call HP technical support to identify the cause of the failure.
The shredding operation ends if the power supply turns off while the shredding operation is being
performed. In that case, depending on the situation of the shredding operation being performed,
either Shredding operation canceled or Shredding operation Failed is displayed.
