NOTE: If you are performing the pairsplit operation on a pair that shares the same P-VOL, do
not run the pairresync -restore command on the pair. Running the command during this
operation can result in the pairsplit operation ending abnormally.
Prerequisite information
• The pair status must have a status of “PAIR”.
• If you pair a P-VOL with two or more V-VOLs, the pairs must have a status other than “RCPY”.
If the status is “RCPY”, the pairsplit operation can end abnormally.
• SS does not support Quick Split mode.
Splitting pairs
You can also split pairs in consistency groups.
For more information about splitting pairs in a consistency group, see “Splitting pairs in consistency
groups at a pre-determined time” (page 41).
1. In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications > Pairs.
2. In the Pairs tab, select the pair you want to split, click Split Pairs, and then click Finish.
3. In the Confirm window, for Task Name, type a name for the task and then click Apply.
NOTE: For character and symbol limits and default values, see “Complete SIMs window”
(page 93).
The pairs are split. The pair status changes to “PSUS”.
Splitting pairs in consistency groups at a pre-determined time
Use the At-Time Split operation to split pairs in a consistency group at a pre-determined time.
Prerequisite information
• The RAID Manager must be installed.
1. From a command prompt, run the following command, specifying a consistency group number
in the command option:
paircreate
The At-Time SS function is enabled.
2. (Optional) Create more pairs specifying the same consistency group number.
3. From a command prompt, run the following command on the consistency group:
pairsplit
The P9500 storage system receives the command. Running a subsequent write requests from
the host to the P-VOL of a pair in the consistency group acquires SS data.
