SECURITY MANAGER CERTIFICATE POLICY SETTINGS

The image below provides a graphic representation of the configurable identity certificate settings

found in the Security Manager policy editor. An explanation of the pertinent settings is provided

below the image.

1. Certificate Signing Request (CSR) Source

This setting allows the administrator to select between the device, HP Security Manager, or Best

Possible as the source of the actual certificate request. When Device is selected, Security

Manager will prompt the device to generate the CSR. Knowledge of the private key remains with

the device and Security Manager does nothing more than pass the CSR to the CA for signing and

issuance. When HP Security Manager is selected, Security Manager actually becomes the source

of the request. Security Manager will have knowledge of the private key as the source of the

request. After installing the signed certificate, Security Manager will remove knowledge of the
