Is the IMD On or Does the server Have Video?
Answer Possible Reasons The Next Step
Yes Video is available for diagnosis. Determine
next action by observing Power-On Self-
Test (POST) progress and error messages.
Refer to the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide for a complete
description of each POST error message.
No Video may not be connected properly.
Switches may not be set correctly on the
system board.
A processor has failed.
A Processor Power Module (PPM) has failed,
or is not seated properly.
Is a video board installed? Make sure the
video cable is properly connected.
Verify the video connections. Refer to
Video Problems in the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide.
Verify the switch settings on the system
board. See System Board Switches in
Appendix D.
Are there any audible indicators, such as a
series of beeps? A series of beeps will be
the audible signal indicating the presence
of a POST error message. Refer to the
Compaq Servers Troubleshooting Guide for
a complete description of each beep
sequence, and the corresponding error
messages.
Remove a single processor and the
corresponding Processor Power Module.
1. Try reseating them firmly.
2. If this does not solve the problem,
replace with a known good processor
and Processor Power Module to
identify the bad component.
