the folder from the Microsoft dialog box or Explorer, and then use

reliable medium. It offers near continuous data protection in much

less time than tape backups.

Use scenarios

Depending on the needs of your business, you can conﬁgure the DP

Storage Server for use in a local area network (LAN) environment or for

use across a wide-area network (WAN) environment. In b oth cases, the DP

Storage Server provides end-users with the ability to restore data across the

network without the intervention of a system administrator.

The following ﬁgures show t wo example deployment scenarios. Figure

1 shows a typical DP Storage Server deployment in a small-to-medium

business environment. In this example, the DP Storage Server (either an HP

ProLiant DL100 G2, ML310 G3, or DL380 G4) provides backup services

and snapshot capability for local, LAN-attached ﬁle servers.
