CAUTION: When you share an XP Continuous Access Journal secondary data volume with

an XP Business Copy P-VOL as shown in Figure 17 (page 63), the write operation to the XP

Continuous Access Journal primary data volume takes time. Especially, when the XP Business

Copy pair is in PSUS(SP) status, the write operation to the XP Continuous Access Journal

primary data volume may take extra time for the copying process to the XP Business Copy

pair. In addition, note that if the journal volume size is small, the XP Continuous Access Journal

pair may be suspended by failure because of the limited capacity of its journal volume.

Access Journal primary data volume and XP Business Copy P-VOL, and XP Continuous Access

Journal secondary data volume and XP Business Copy P-VOL

Figure 18 (page 63) combines the configurations shown in Figure 16 (page 62) and

Figure 17 (page 63). Within a single XP Continuous Access Journal pair, the primary and

secondary data volumes function as XP Business Copy P-VOLs, providing multiple copies at

the primary and remote sites.

In Figure 19 (page 64), the XP Business Copy S-VOL in PSUS status also functions as an XP

Continuous Access Journal primary data volume. This configuration allows XP Continuous

Access Journal to make a remote backup copy of the XP Business Copy S-VOL.
