2 Installing the Conversion
This chapter will describe the procedures for installing the software conversion kit in the T1010
and T20 terminals
Install the software in the T1010
If you encounter any problem during this upgrade please contact Wyse technical
support at 800-800-9973.
This conversion only works for 16MB versions or higher of the T1010. To convert 8MB
version you will need to purchase P/N 920184-01 16MB Flash Upgrade Kit or P/N
920184-02 32MB Flash Upgrade Kit.
For Units with 8MB of onboard flash follow these steps.
To determine the onboard flash see the HP Product matrix
at the end of this process.
1) Configure a Microsoft IIS/FTP server for file storage.
2) Create a Directory under FTP root (/) e.g.: HP2WyseCENet
3) Install any required flash upgrade kits, 16MB of 32MB at this time. Follow
instructions that came with the kit.
4) Install any memory upgrade kits at this time.
5) Plug in the power supply, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and network cable.
Warning
DO NOT INTERRUPT any of these processes by depressing the power button or
removing the power cable or the terminal’s firmware will be corrupted causing the
terminal to become inoperable.
6) Connect the unit to the FTP server.
7) Install the HP Conversion Utility
a) Copy the two files, hpwyconvertaddonn.bin and params.ini, from the, HP
Conversion Utility, directory on the CD and place in the directory created in Step
2.
b) From the Compaq Connections Manager screen press (F2), Select Upgrade Tab,
Select USE LOCAL FTP INFORMATION, enter IP of the FTP server in the field
SERVER NAME and in the field, SERVER DIRECTORY; the directory name of
where the files reside.
c) Click on the Upgrade button. After the T1010 contacts the IIS/FTP server, a
Firmware Upgrade Warning box will appear on the terminal indicating that a
firmware upgrade is in process. Click on the Start button.
d) The conversion utility will load and the unit will reboot.
8) Install the CE.Net Primer.
a) If the unit has 8MB of onboard flash, before the flash upgrade is installed, you
must first load the CE.Net primer before proceeding.
