For Units with 16MB or more of onboard flash follow these
steps.
To determine the onboard flash see the HP Product matrix
at the end of this process.
1) Configure a Microsoft IIS/FTP server for file storage.
2) Create a Directory under FTP root (/) e.g.: HP2WyseCENet
3) Install any optional compact flash upgrade kits, 16MB or 32MB at this time. Follow
instructions that came with the kit.
4) Install any memory upgrade kits at this time.
5) Plug in the power supply, keyboard, mouse, monitor, and network cable.
Warning
DO NOT INTERRUPT any of these processes by depressing the power button or
removing the power cable or the terminal’s firmware will be corrupted causing the
terminal to become inoperable.
6) Connect the unit to the FTP server.
7) Install the HP Conversion Utility.
a) Copy the two files, hpwyconvertaddonn.bin and params.ini, from the, HP
Conversion Utility, directory on the CD and place in the directory created in Step
2.
b) From the Compaq Connection Manager Screen press (F2), Select Upgrade Tab,
Select USE LOCAL FTP INFORMATION, enter IP of the FTP server in the field
SERVER NAME and in the field SERVER DIRECTORY; the directory name of
where the files reside.
a) Click on the Upgrade button. After the T1010 contacts the IIS/FTP server, a
Firmware Upgrade Warning box will appear on the terminal indicating that a
firmware upgrade is in process. Click on the Start button.
c) A warning screen will appear. Click on the Yes button.
d) The conversion utility will load and the unit will reboot.
Warning
Select the image from the correct directory on the CD. The image must match the
unit model number and the image size must match the total flash size. Selecting
the wrong size image may cause firmware corruption and render the unit
inoperable.
8) Install the CE.Net image.
a) Copy the image from the T1010 directory on the CD and place in the directory
created in Step 2.
i) From the Compaq Connection Manager Screen press (F2), select “Sys
Info” Tab to verify the flash size.
ii) Depending on the flash size 16MB or 32MB (or 48MB if it is a 16mb unit
with 32MB flash kit) copy the two files (XXXX.bin & params.ini) from the
corresponding T1010 16MB or 32MB subdirectory on the CD and place in
the directory created in Step #2. The largest image on the CD is 32MB.
b) Select Upgrade Tab, Select USE LOCAL FTP INFORMATION, enter IP of the
FTP server in the field SERVER NAME and in the field SERVER DIRECTORY;
the directory name of where the files reside.
