Deleting HBAs
When an HBA is physically removed from the SAN, VSM detects the removal and changes the HBAs
status to absent ( ). VSM enables you to delete HBAs if they are absent. You would normally do this
if you know that you do not intend to replace the HBA that was removed.
If a host has more than one HBA, and one of the HBAs moves into absent status, the host’s status is
changed from present to degraded (indicated by in the top right corner of the host icon). If you
delete the absent HBA, the HBA is deleted from the host’s definition, and the host’s status changes
back to present.
To delete an HBA:
1. Right-click the HBA.
2. Select Delete. A confirmation screen appears.
3. Click Finish. The HBA is deleted.
Deleting access paths to HBAs
The access paths to each HBA are displayed in the Access Path tab when the HBA is selected in the
HBA list (see “HBA information--Access Path tab” on page 165). When an access path to an HBA is
down ( ), you can delete it. You would normally do this if you know that an access path that is
physically down will not be restored.
To delete an access path:
1. Right-click the access path.
2. Select Delete. A confirmation screen appears.
3. Click Finish. The access path is deleted.
