3. Configure your event log parameters. You can do the following:
• Specify the maximum size of the event log file, as follows: Select a file size from the Maximum
Log size in MB dropdown list.
• Specify an action for the VSM client to perform when the event log file reaches the maximum
size, as follows: Select one of the following options: Oldest log file will be deleted, Delete the
entire log, or Perform a local backup, then delete the log.
NOTE:
Best practice is to select the Perform a local backup, then delete the log option. When the
VSM client performs a local backup, the backup file is saved in the VSM server installation
directory. The file is named EventLogBackupYYYYMMDD.gz, where YYYYMMDD is the current
date. The file is compressed in gzip format (zlib).
4. Click OK. The event log file is configured.
