Later when the ‘secondary’ gateway is joined, the configuration database of the ‘primary’ gateway
will be imported automatically into the ‘secondary’ gateway.
Verify and Save Configuration
Verify that the ‘primary’ VMA SAN Gateway and connected arrays are configured correctly. You can
verify the configuration of array containers and LUNs using either the CLI or the web interface:
• CLI – use the following commands to verify configuration:
o show containers
o show target sessions
o show luns
• Web interface – use the following task functions under the vSHARE tab:
o ‘Manage LUNs’ to view containers and LUNs and view sessions per LUN
o ‘Manage Initiators’ to view initiator port ‘igroups’ and initiator port configuration
o ‘Manage Targets’ to view gateway target port configuration

Note that the ‘Status’ of the container and created LUNs show a degraded mode. This is because
the ‘dual x4’ mode firmware has been updated on the VMA Array making both PCIe ports A and B
on the array active, yet only the A ports of the array(s) are connected and active. Because PCIe port
B of the arrays are not yet connected to the ‘secondary’ gateway and are inactive, full bandwidth to
the array is not possible and HA status is not achievable.
Whenever configuration changes are made to the VMA SAN Gateway, always save the
configurations so they will be persistent. This can be performed using either the VMA SAN Gateway
CLI interface or the web interface:
• If using the CLI interface, issue the ‘write memory’ command
• If using the web interface, click on the red ‘Commit Changes’ button at the top center of the
window.
