Join Secondary Gateway to Primary Gateway and Import Configuration
At this time the ‘secondary’ VMA SAN Gateway will be paired to the ‘primary’ gateway. This is done
by changing the Cluster-ID of the ‘secondary’ gateway to be the same as the Cluster-ID of the
‘primary’ gateway. Modifying the Cluster-ID on the ‘secondary’ gateway to be the same as the
‘primary’ gateway, causes the configuration database on the ‘primary’ gateway to be exported and
activated on the ‘secondary’ gateway automatically. This is why LUN and FC Port settings were
configured initially on the ‘primary’ gateway during preparation.
You can determine the Cluster-ID of the ‘primary’ gateway by issuing the ‘show cluster global brief’
CLI command on the ‘primary’ gateway. The Cluster ID of the ‘primary’ gateway will be displayed on
the first line of the summary. You can also find the Cluster-ID assigned to the ‘primary’ gateway on
the gateway license label which is located at the top right front corner of the gateway enclosure.
To set the Cluster ID on the ‘secondary’ gateway, issue the gateway CLI command ‘cluster id’ as
follows:
# cluster id <primary-gateway-cluster-id>
#write memory
With this step, synchronization of the configuration database, configuration details for array
containers, created LUNs, target port assignments, initiator port and igroup settings, etc., will be
duplicated and applied to the ‘secondary’ VMA SAN Gateway.
