This scenario provides fast restore times for individual les, with the added security of offsite tape storage.
It requires 8 autoloader slots. The examples in the rest of this chapter illustrate more complex scenarios.
Ofce backup
The ofce has three hosts that must be backed up:
A leserver
ADataba
se server
A high-performance desktop PC
Each device will be backed up to an autoloader on the HP D2D Backup System. You must run the
Install
ation wizard on each host that is to be backed up. The following examples illustrate how you decide
how man
y s lots should be allocated to each autoloader. You can either assign these during installation, if
you run
the Installation wizard, or use the Web Management interface after installation to increase the
number
of slots, as described in To edit device details on page 66.
Fileserver
This is used by all the people in the ofce who have access to a le sha re on the server for storing
ofce documents, such as word processing les and spreadsheets. These lesmustbebackedupdaily,
retained for a month and copied once a week to a tape drive attached to the leserver for offsite storage.
Thestartingsizeofthedataonthele share is 60 GB. Daily changes are approximately 500 M B.
