The contents of the server shipping carton include:
Server
Power cord
Hardware documentation, Documentation CD, and software products
Rack-mounting hardware
In addition to the supplied items, you may need:
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Hardware options
Operating system or application software
PDU
Installing hardware options
Install any hardware options before initializing the server. For options installation information, refer to the
option documentation. For server-specific information, refer to "Hardware options installation (on page
27)."
Setting up a tower server
Follow the steps in this section to set up a tower model server. If you are going to install the server into a
rack, refer to the rack installation ("Installing the server into the rack" on page 24) section.
1. Connect peripheral devices to the server ("Rear panel components" on page 8).
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or damage to the equipment, do not
plug telephone or telecommunications connectors into RJ-45 connectors.
2. Connect the power cord to the rear of the server.
3. Connect the power cord to the AC power source.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment:
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important
safety feature.
Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is easily
accessible at all times.
Unplug the power cord from the power supply to disconnect power to the equipment.
Do not route the power cord where it can be walked on or pinched by items placed
against it. Pay particular attention to the plug, electrical outlet, and the point where
the cord extends from the server.
Installing the server into the rack
WARNING: This server is very heavy. To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to
the equipment:
Observe local occupational health and safety requirements and guidelines for manual
material handling.
Get help to lift and stabilize the product during installation or removal, especially
when the product is not fastened to the rails. When the server weighs more than 22.5
kg (50 lb), at least two people must lift the server into the rack together. A third
