One of the remote-copy pairs can be bidirectional, and the other can be unidirectional. Both
remote-copy pairs can also be bidirectional, and both pairs can operate in synchronous mode, as
shown in Figure 20 (page 48).
Verifying Connectivity between Remote-Copy Pairs for M-to-N Setup
Use the following commands to verify connectivity for the remote-copy pair you are configuring.
• For RCIP remote-copy pairs:
# controlport rcip ping <IP_address> <N:S:P>
• For RCFC remote-copy pairs:
# showrctransport -rcfc

Setting Up the Primary System for M-to-N Remote Copy
Follow these steps to set up the primary system:
1. Issue the following command to start HP 3PAR Remote Copy on the primary storage system
(System1):
# startrcopy
2. Issue the following commands to define a target on the primary storage system (System1).
For RCIP:
# creatercopytarget <target_name> IP <N:S:P>:<link_IP_addr>
where:
• <target_name>—Name of the target system (System2)
• IP—Defines link as an IP link
