The ESL E-Ser
ies tape library consists of the several major components, detailed in:

• Operator control panel (OCP)
• Library rob

• Switch for the internal network
• Tape drives
• Tape catrid

• Card cage and controllers

PProtocol(SIPP)
• Interface Manager card
Library cabinet
The cabinet houses all library components, including:
• Media picker
• Storage bins
• Control electronics
• Power supply and distribution equipment
• Tape drives
• Card cage with Fibre Channel (FC) interface controllers and robotics controller
• Interface M anager card
You can access these components through the front and back doors of the l ibrary cabinet.
Front panel
Thefrontofthelibrarycabinet(seeFigure 1) provides the following:
• The fr
ont doors provide easy access to the media picker and the storage array.
• The viewing window makes it p ossible to visually monitor librar y operations.
• An Operator Control Panel (OCP) in the center of the door enab les you to mon itor and control
libra
ry operations.
• Two configurable load ports allow easy insertion of cartridges, or removable magazines, without
opening the library door.
