Working with Snapshot Containers
Updating a Snapshot Container
Updating a snapshot container updates archive information on the
snapshot container that is linked to the original container. When an
update snapshot container operation is performed, only files that
have not changed on the original container since the snapshot was
taken are effected. This feature only applies to NTFS and FAT file
systems.
To update a snapshot container, you must understand:
■ The update snapshot container attributes you can set
■ How to update a snapshot container
■ Updating a snapshot container in a NetWare environment
■ Some tasks to perform after updating a snapshot container
Understanding the Update Snapshot Container Attributes
that You Can Specify
You use the container update snapshot command to update a
snapshot container. Before updating a snapshot container, consider
the following update snapshot container attributes you can set.
■ synchronous or asynchronous snapshot container
update
Specifying Synchronous or Asynchronous Snapshot Container
Update
The container update snapshot wait attribute specifies
whether the command prompt returns after the container update
snapshot operation completes (synchronous command execution) or
if the command prompt returns immediately after executing the
container update snapshot command (asynchronous
command execution). The container update snapshot
operation may require more than a minute to complete.
In the following example, the container update snapshot
command with the /wait switch updates the snapshot container
(container 1) archive information synchronously.
HPN0> container update snapshot /wait=TRUE 1
Executing: container update snapshot /wait=TRUE 1
