ing, 2) obtain adequate assistance to lift and stabilize the autoloader during installation or
removal, 3) al
ways remove all tapes to reduce the overall weight of the autoloader.
The DAT 72x10 Tape Autoloader arrives rack-ready for installation in a standard 19" rack and takes up
1U of space. Thetypeofrackthatyou have will determinewhataccessories youneedto mount the
autoloader. The rackmount hardware included with the library allows installation in a variety of HP racks,
such as an HP System/E Series or an HP Rack 5000/9000/10000 Series rack. The HP Rack System/E
rack has 7.1 mm round holes in the rack column. The HP Rack 5000, 9000 and 10000 series have 9.5
mm
square holes in the rack column. The rack-mount kit contains a separate, labeled screw pack for each
HP
rack type, the required number of additional screws for installation and an installation poster.
To install the rails into the rack:
1. If the autoloader has plastic feet, they must be removed so the autoloader c an tinsidethe tabletop
conversion cover. With assistance, gently turn the autoloader over and set it on its back, as shown
below. Peel off the plastic feet. Turn the autoloader right side up.

2. Using the screws for your rack type, and a #3 Phillips screwdriver, secure one rail to each side of the
rack in your chosen rack location.
3. Secure both the front and back of each rail to the rack. The rails extend to t a variety of rack depths.
The corr ect orientation of the left and right rails is shown in Figure 8.
