The autoloader can be operated by the following methods:
• Operator control panel - operate manually to insert a nd eject ca rtridges a n d to unload magazines
• Host backup software - the SCSI bus connects the autoloader to the host server and the backup
software. You can p er form any functions contained in the backup software.
This chapter provides an overview of the operator control panel, OCP, and information about tape
cartridges and magazines. See “Autoloader administration” on page 35 for instructions on using the
OCP.

includes a 2-line by 16-character, green backlit liquid crystal display (LCD). There are
four functi

keys located to the right of the LCD: Cancel, Enter, Previous,and Next.Above the
LCD screen a

four LEDs which are: Ready, Clean, Attention,and Error. This panel provides
everything you need to monitor autoloader status and control all of its functions.
The following functions are available through the OCP:
• Robotic and tape drive firmwar e version reporting
• Autoloade

and drive parameters configuration
• Robotic and tape drive serial number reporting
• Critical component status reporting
• Critical
component failure status
• Moving cartridges to and from any location
• Access to detailed error information

Operator control panel buttons
The O CP displays a scrolling menu that lets you access information and execute commands using the four
buttonsasdetailedin Table 5.
