ppp chap password <password>

Use the ppp chap password command to configure an alternate password when the peer requires CHAP

PPP authentication. Use the no form of this command to remove a configured password. For more

information on PAP and CHAP functionality, see the Technology Review section for the command ppp

authentication <protocol> on page 766.

Syntax Description

<password> Alphanumeric string up to 80 characters in length

Default Values

By default, there is no defined PPP CHAP password.

Command Modes

(config-ppp 1)# PPP Interface Configuration Mode required

Usage Examples

The following example specifies a PPP CHAP password of my_password:

(config)#interface ppp 1

(config-ppp 1)#ppp chap password my_password
